Panajachel is the largest of the shoreside towns of Lake Atitlan, once described by English novelist Aldous Huxley as "the most beautiful lake in the world". It is a beautiful place to relax and explore for a few nights in a hotel when on vacation in Guatemala. There are various boutique hotels on the shores of the lake, which make a lovely place to relax for a few nights. Chichicastenango is a couple of hours away, so you could visit the market there on a day tour. There is also a market at nearby Solola on Tuesdays that is interesting to visit. Lake Atitlan is a few hours by car from Guatemala City / Antigua.
