International Flights to Peru
Peru's capital city Lima is well connected with flights to both North America and Europe. Note that almost all flights are to Lima - from where you will need a connecting flight onwards. There are no international flights to Cuzco, and definately no flights to Machu Picchu!
Airlines that fly direct from USA and North America to Lima include LAN Peru, Air Peru, American Airlines, Delta and Continental. There are also often cheap flights with Copa via Panama City.
Airlines that fly from Europe to Lima include KLM (from Amsterdam), Iberia (from Madrid), LAN (via either Madrid, New York or Miami), Lufthansa (from Frankfurt, via Caracas), Air France (from Paris, via either Bogota or Caracas) and Varig (via Sao Paulo). The cheapest flights are normally with either Air France or Iberia, or with Air Comet, a budget airline that has been known to cancel plenty of flights in the past.
Elswhere in Latin America, Lima is well connected with flights to most major capital cities such as Quito, Bogota, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Santiago, La Paz and Sao Paulo. In addition, there are noteworthy flights from Lima to Guayaquil (Ecuador - useful if you plan on travelling onwards to the Galapagos), Panama City (plus connections to numerous Central American destinations) and Rio de Janeiro (with Gol). Both Lan Peru and Taca Peru have extensive networks of flights from Lima to other travel destinations in Latin America. LAN offers an airpass for flights within Peru and elsewhere in Latin America - it's excellent value for money - see the article on the LAN airpass for more info.

Domestic Flights in Peru
LAN Peru has by far the the most extensive network of internal flights within Peru. They are also the best airline in terms of punctuality and customer service (other Peruvian domestic airlines have been known to cancel flights at the last minute merely because they are not full).
