Ecuador has a host of travel highlights. There's colonial cities such as Quito and Cuenca, rainforest lodges in the Amazon, birdwatching tours to Mindo, indigenous markets such as that of Otavalo, great train journeys through the Avenue of the Volcanoes and beach resorts along the Pacific Coast.
