London & Trafalgar Square

The UK's most frequently visited tourist attraction is Trafalgar Square in London. Surrounded by awe inspiring grand buildings, the huge square is in the heart of London and within decent walking distance of other travel attractions such as Buckingham Palace, St Pauls Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye.

Visit London in Style

London is a truely historic city with many fine luxury hotels that range from the extremely old and traditional to more modern hip and trendy options. Browns Hotel is certainly one of the most historic hotels in London, while Dukes Hotel has fantastic service and a thoroughly traditional British feel to it. Business travellers often find the Langham to be best, while those seeking something ultra-trendy might find a few celebrities hanging out at St Martins Lane. Alternatively, consider London's most famous hotel - the Savoy. All of these places cost an arm and a leg.

Getting To & Flights to London

London is served by numerous airports. You'll find that City airport is the most convenient and relaxing, though most visitors invariably arrive at the chaotic Heathrow. Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports are alternatives and generally offer the cheaper airfares.

To visit Trafalgar Square, head to either Charing Cross or Embankment tube stations.

Tips for Travelling Onwards

  • Richmond Park is the largest of London's Parks - it's in South West London, and is an enormous park full of deer.

  • Brighton is 90 minutes travel South of London - here you'll find some pebble beaches, great nightlife and a distinctly alternative English feel.

  • Bath is about 90 minutes West of London, and famous as a beautiful city with ancient Roman Baths.

  • Stonehenge is about an hour West of London, and in an ancient site of stone monoliths.

  • There's plenty of other things to do in London - consider a visit to Buckingham Palace (the Queens residence), St Pauls Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament and adjacent Big Ben, or get some great views of the city atop the London Eye.
